You’ve probably seen at least one on TV: advertisements putting some sort of cream or device to help tackle cellulitis. Believe it or not, there are actually plenty of things we can do, without resorting to chemicals, that can help get battle cellulite.
The treatments that do exist are based more around appearance than cellulite removal. Remember that cellulite is a form of fat and there are only really a few clearly defined ways to actively burn fat. In recent years, the apple cider vinegar craze has also taken the cellulite battle, claiming that the acid and chemical make-up of the vinegar can strip away the cellulite over time.
In truth, there really is no proof for this. Coconut oil, on the other hand, has been lauded as an excellent natural solution. When applied to the skin and rubbed in, or when a coconut oil bath is taken, the cellulite is softened by the coconut oil which helps spread it out. It is not a cure all, but it is now being widely regarded as the number one natural remedy for the appearance of cellulite. Foam rolling and lymphatic massage are also useful treatments. Again, the focus here is on spreading out the cellulite rather than removing it, so that the skin has a more smooth appearance.
One that we are all no doubt keen to hear works is caffeine. Much like with exercise, caffeine boosts the metabolism and speeds up the fat burning process. This includes cellulite which, when fat stores are low, will also eventually get converted into energy. Studies are now also being conducted into topical application of caffeine treatments; however, this is based more around appearance and is only temporary. Similarly, cayenne pepper is also said to speed up metabolism and produce the same effect, but studies into this are new and largely unproven.
Unfortunately, without cosmetic surgery or treatment, the natural remedies for cellulitis are based more around handling the appearance of it rather than removal.
