It is important to remember that diet is just one component of a larger fat burning goal. True, watching our food and drink is important, but so is complementing that astuteness with exercise. A lot of people will go to the gym or exercise at home with the intention of simply maintaining their cardiovascular system or helping them chill out after a busy day. But that doesn’t just have to be the end of it. There are many exercises that will have the added benefit of getting rid of fat.
As we get older, one of the main complaints from middle-aged men is belly fat. And it’s understandable. A change in hormones, a sedentary lifestyle or a lazy diet means that we are statistically more likely to get a potbelly as we get older. Some of the exercises out there include kettle bell swings and dumbbell squats and presses. These not only help build and tone muscle but work all the major muscle groups around our centre, meaning that our entire abdominal system, chest muscles and gluteal muscles are all working overtime. And that means abdominal fat is going to get burned off.
Box jumps are another excellent fat burner. Again, the key component here is the workout of major muscle groups where fat typically builds up. Box jumps work the abs and glutes are going to get the exercise they need.
An unlikely candidate in fat burning is golf swings. This works the chest muscles, abdominal area and upper arms (let’s not forget that as we get older, our upper arms often start to feel flabby.) Working this one into an exercise routine is going to see speedy results.
And let’s not forget good old-fashioned sit-ups. Admittedly, these are more for developing muscle than burning fat, but the aerobic factor of sit-ups, abs aside, means we are constantly converting factor energy, and over time this will all factor into a larger fat burning plan.
You don’t have to make your exercise regime solely about fat burning. But these break up a workout excellently, and will yield great results.
