How to mediate between traveling for your job and being with you loved ones.
A lot of people need to travel because of their job. For some of them, traveling is one of the main reasons, if not the main reason, for them having that job. The opportunity go abroad and experience the world, feel other cultures and see famous places is even more fun when you don’t have to pay yourself. Others will have the opposite and die a little on the inside every time they sleep in a different bed in another town. But almost all of us who travel share a common trait, which is the feeling of being separated from our loved ones; a cause of upset for everyone. Fortunately there are a few ways to incorporate our personal lives into our travel plans. The first one is via apps and social media. For the most of us it’s a no brainer, but still to often, its overlooked in favour of a brief text or Whatsapp message. But a video call, even for five minutes, can bring a lot of happiness and satisfaction thanks to just seeing our loved ones’ faces and hearing their voices. And if we are in a well known city with so much to see, how nice is it to call in from one of the special places and bring the experience to those we’re missing? But, even better still, if a hotel is being offered through employment, one of the most overlooked tricks is to ask their employers if their partners can come along for the trip if you need to stay for quite a time. This doesn’t only cut down on the time spent apart, it’s often the gateway to incredibly cheap weekend breaks and vacations. It might not be a fancy, hotel in the middle of the centre, and we might be out at a conference all day, but the evenings, night and mornings are still to enjoy together, and famous landmarks, nice restaurants and attractions are all within easy reach. If our loved ones are able to make the trip (albeit often at their own cost) then it’s a no brainer; the perfect medium between our jobs and domestic lives has been struck free of charge. Problem solved!
