Everyday Foods to Reduce Fat

In order to actively burn fat rather than just aim for general weight loss, it’s easy to get drawn into the trap of buying supplements or manufactured coffees claim to have fat burning qualities. They may, but so do lots of different foods that we can eat every day whilst keeping our bodies full of more natural sustenance.

Any citrus fruit is a great start, so a natural orange juice or lemon water is going to help. In fact, studies show that vitamin C helps us burn more fat. So swapping out a packet of chips in our lunchbox for a few Clementines is going to actively reduce fat levels.

Protein rich foods such as meat, fish, dairy, nuts and pulses (once checked for saturated and trans fat content) will give the body a protein kit, speed the metabolism up and burn off fat quicker. Of course, any meat, dairy or fish runs the risk of putting more fat on, so actively seeking out lower or fat-free options is a must.

There are also some more exotic ways to help burn fat; chili peppers, avocados, coconut oil and berries are all linked to helping the body burn fat, and feature in many foreign foods. A decent vegan curry with chilis and coconut oil is going to taste fantastic but also be packed with fat burning nutrients. Just the cautious, and opt for a fibre rich brown rice instead of the ‘packed full of carbs’ white!

Finally, coffee is an excellent fat burner in moderation. It speeds up our metabolism causing quicker fat burning. However, it also presents a risk. The higher caffeine content is a no-brainer, but additionally, coffee is a diuretic that runs the risk of dehydrating the body, and also is effectively an addictive substance. Once our bodies acclimatise to regular coffee drinking, the fat burning qualities are vastly reduced, meaning this needs to be utilised in moderation.

As you can see, without realising it, we consume many fat burners on a daily basis, so experimenting and building these further into our diet will burn fat with very little additional effort.
